How did your audition go, if you don't mind my asking?
Thanks for asking! And to the rest of you for your comments and wishes to break a leg!
It went well, I think! There were only 4 other girls and myself at the end…I think that’s a good thing :) “Stanley” was no Marlon, but not too bad, I must say. He smelled good. I had crazy adrenaline after I left…auditioning takes a lot of you, but you feel how great it is when you leave. Loved it!
In the picture of Jimmy's girlfirends, what are their names? I saw Dizzy in the first picture, but I've never seen the others.
Ah, yes. I think the description no longer shows because of my theme change…but this is what I put:
Liz Sheridan -First major relationship in NYC. Young love. Beautiful story. Read “Dizzy & Jimmy”. Tears.
Arlene Sachs (Martel)- She was just a fan in NYC who found Jimmy and gave him her phone number. HE CALLED HER BACK. She was young, but attractive so he thought…why not. They kept in contact throughout the years.
Betsy Palmer- Another short lived relationship in NYC, but notable. They starred in the TV show “Sentence of Death” in 1953. They lived together for a short time but we all know he can’t keep still.
Lilli Kardell- Swedish actress in Hollywood. They actually spent much time together. She has a diary with many entries about their relationship, some noted in several Dean biographies. She loved him like crazy.
(Just a couple of the girls he dated that we don’t hear about as much as Pier, Ursula, and Barbara.)
That is exactly what I said when I read that part! He kind of did that later on with some children he got to know as he got older, too. What a relationship they had… He wrote a little verse to Christine White once that said something like, “My mother died when I was wee, maybe that’s why I am me.” Explains a lot. Enjoy the rest!
I just read your post about A Streetcar Named Desire!!!!! Thats great that you're getting a chance to audition! I'm a theratre major and I know how it feels to be away from the stage for long periods of time. It's not something I enjoy having to do. lol But I was actually in a production of A Streetcar Named Desire as Stella. It's a really fun role. I had a lot of fun with it. :) Such a great play. Break a leg at auditions love!!!! <3
It’s tough! It’s been a couple of years since I’ve done an audition. Super nervous, but I know I can do this. That’s awesome you played Stella! Any advice is appreciated haha! Thanks for the message!
Okay, this isn’t James Dean related (well…) but I need to express my happiness and my followers would understand, I feel!
I was going to audition for “A Streetcar Named Desire” at our city theatre this past week, however my parents were in town so I was unable to. I’ve been in serveral shows before, but since I have moved to Florida, I have been MIA from the stage.
Today I got the message that everyone has been cast EXCEPT STELLA, which is the part I was going to go for. New auditions to take place this coming Monday.
IT WAS MEANT TO BE. I can’t waitqlkwhfoitgfoiegfioegw!
Okay, that is all. I’ll get to Jimmy Dean soon but I HAD TO TELL YOU. In fact, reading more and more James Dean bio’s certainly inspired me to get back into acting -something I love and miss! I was nervous…but, fuck it, I’m doing this, people!
alright, so i'm having a very difficult time trying to find a simple red windbreaker just like jimmy's in rebel. you'd think something so plain would be easy to find :( i know american apparel has a unisex one but they are too expensive for me :( do you possibly know anywhere online that has one?
Well, an easy place to look is ebay.com or amazon.com but I know buying clothing from strangers can sometimes be sketch-tastic. However, there are some good ones there!
I just did a quick search, and other than American Apparel, Forever21 and Gap have decent “Rebel inspired” jackets. They aren’t the same jacket, really, but still trendy and would have a modern “Rebel” twist/effect, in my fashion opinion!
I know, it’s not exact. But they are semi-similar and within a decent budget…which I also mucho enjoy!
